Downtown/South Tampa is the starting point for the growth of the suburbs around the city center. South Tampa isn't really a place. It doesn't show up on maps, it doesn't have its own ZIP code and it doesn't have set boundaries. But it's certainly a state of mind. South Tampa is an eclectic mix of old bungalows, stately mansions, newer contemporary homes, Spanish-style villas, modern townhomes, city lofts and towering skyscraper-type condominiums.
